My first trail camera

I really wasn't sure what I would find with this. The camera is a wifi+blutooth device that connects to your phone and not the a network. This sits independently and record the events you want to see. The box that protects it can be locked easy and strapped down to anything ready to keep from being stolen. Setting things up is incredibly easy with a switch between "off" and "Setup" and "action". The app is very easy to use and connects to each device as needed, but it does require an account. I've set this up to record my dog's activities in our back yard and all the rabbits, cicada, and squirrels out there.

Surprising image quality - excellent battery life

This turned out to be my best trail camera of the 9+ cameras we operate on our property. It's small, simple to program and easy to install - whether you strap it to a tree/pole or mount it using the screw-down swivel mount on a building/structure. I chose the latter. This camera is powered by 8x "AA" batteries (included) At first, I was wondering how long this arrangement would last, right? Well - it's been over a month since installing this device and the batteries still show 80% capacity! My particular location experiences a lot of nighttime traffic from wildlife (see video) This device records 5~10 events a night and isn't zapping the batteries like I expected!Using this camera is simple. Just download the "TrailCam Go" APP, set up your recording preferences & image quality and install in your desired location. The SD card for recording is included & already installed, ready for use. The included card is 2GB in size. This camera produces videos in the .avi format and saves them on the card that way. Upon download, the APP saves them to your device as .mp4 files.Connectivity is kinda weird with this camera - but it works very well at distances well over 150' in my usage...Firstly, you'll select the camera (in case of more than one) from the app. The app 'wakes up' the camera's Bluetooth radio which in turn, wakes the Wifi signal that continues the communication with your phone. It takes a moment but there is a progress indicator - so you'll know the device is actually responding. Apparently this device works in a very low power mode, all transmissions of video, photos and downloading of these files is done in a burst and then the radio shuts down to conserve power...all I can say is that it works very reliably. This device does not connect to a WiFi router in any way - only to the device running the APP.The motion detection & recording delay functions are completely adjustable. Infrared night recording is very clear and easy to view (see video)All user controls/settings can be accomplished on either the APP or on the tiny screen and control panel on the inside of this device (see photo) Be assured, it's extremely easy to set up.Conclusion: This is a very capable camera. It is an excellent value at it's price point. If you are surveilling a large tract of land, these cameras are a very affordable choice - they are about 70% less expensive than the others I own, anyway!I can give a strong recommendation for this camera. I kinda wish I had known about this device earlier in the year - I could have saved a few hundred dollars!Excellent quality, five stars easily earned.

Very cool trail camera.

I got this to put up near my cabin but I've been testing it here at home. It was packaged very well and even came with batteries and a 64 GB micro SD card. It can be tripod mounted but also comes with a mounting bracket and a strap so there are various ways to secure it. I was able to connect my phone to it easily after downloading the app and reading the quick start directions. There is a much more detailed instruction manual included also that surprisingly is readable without a magnifying glass! I wanted to see how well it worked so I attached it to a tree in my front yard pointing at some political signs I have. Unfortunately it also catches a part of the street in it's field of vision. Luckily it's not a very busy street and probably sees only about 5 cars an hour but I now have pictures of all of them for the last 24 hours. What's really cool is I can connect my phone to it and stream a live feed to it or review the pictures captured and even down load them. All from inside my house as the tree is only about 200 feet from my living room. It doesn't need to connect to my WIFI network and the app didn't ask for anything intrusive like location. This pictures are quite clear even the night setting ones. I'm still learning everything the camera does and how to adjust the settings but I can't believe all the features for this price point.

worked great for 2 weeks, then died

I was able to quickly get this camera set up to observe a small watering area that my wife set up in our back yard. We thought we only had a couple neighborhood cats, but it turns out we also have 2 or more 'Possum visitors as well! For two weeks my wife would check the camera daily, and it was great fun. The only issue I had with the device during that two weeks was the extremely limited range of the 2.5ghz wifi signal. My phone was only able to connect with the camera when it was within about 20 feet, which means only a single corner of my house was within range. Oh-well, that's not really a big deal, only an annoyance. Then the batteries went from 80% down to 10% in a day, and I had to change them out. It turns out that was the end of our fun :( After changing out the batteries (with new 1.5v Alkaline batteries as suggested in the manual), the camera would no longer turn on. I immediately sent the company a support request email, and received a couple replies. However, it has now been 15 days since my last response to them and there has been no reply. Their suggestions were "make sure the batteries are inserted correctly, and also do a factory reset of the camera." Of course the batteries are oriented correctly, and there is no way to factory reset the camera unless it first is able to be powered on since there is no reset button, only an option in the software menu.If you get a camera that works after having the batteries changed, I'm sure this is a great device. Mine was a dud.

Excellent

I have, and use, over 20 game cameras with several being kjk like this one. This one works very well. Trigger speed is fast! Got several of gray fox actually running by the camera and it caught them. Gray and red fox, possum, raccoon, and deer didn't seem bothered by it. Didn't have any coyote come by to see if they stared at it (they always seem to know, no matter which cam I have out).Comes with a memory card and batteries, which after a few weeks are still close to full power.I check my cards with a reader on my phone, but you can connect your phone or tablet directly to it. No, it doesn't connect to home wifi and nearly 0 cams out there will, beyond security types.

Ready to go out of the box

This is a battery-operated trail camera. The camera is powered by 8 AA batteries (included). It saves media onto a microSD card (64Gb card included). It has IR flash for night shots. It comes with a mounting bracket, mounting strap, and a USB cable for downloading photos directly to a computer. The camera also has Wifi so that you can download photos to a phone or other device using a free app.I like the image quality of photos taken with this camera. They are crisp and sharp. The video quality is also good, too. Navigation of the setup menus is straightforward. Having the Wifi option for photo downloads is handy if you put the camera in a hard to access location. With the Wifi, you can download the photos without moving the camera. But I usually just pop out the SD card and stick it in my laptop. I wish that the camera had a full-sized SD card instead of a micro. I find the micro cards hard to manipulate—I often end up dropping them in the snow when I try to change them. And you either need a special card reader or an adapter to read microSD cards on your computer. But it seems microSD cards are becoming the norm on trail cameras these days. I really like the battery arrangement on this camera, in which the batteries are laid out horizontally in the battery compartment. I find that arrangement easier to deal with than the vertical arrangement used in other cameras. Overall, this camera works well, is easy to set up and comes ready to go out of the box, including batteries and an SD card.

Great value but not the wifi I expected

When I ordered this trail cam, it was priced at $18, and I considered it a great deal at that cost. Here's a tip: open the settings, scroll to the "sound" option, and turn off the annoying beep. While you're at it, you'll notice the screen resolution is surprisingly high for an $18 trail cam.The camera requires 8 AA batteries, which seems excessive. I've got other cameras that run for months on just 2 AA batteries, so I'll have to see how this one holds up over time. The WiFi feature is misleading. It doesn’t allow you to sit in your house, connect to WiFi, and view the pictures directly. You need to download an app to make that work. I decided not to download the app after learning it couldn’t connect to my home WiFi.At $18, it’s a great value. However, I'm on the fence about whether I would purchase it again due to the disappointing WiFi feature.

Easy set up and loads of settings

Got this to keep an eye on the wildlife around my townhouse. We've been having a bear come through and I want to just keep an eye on what's going on. I love the fact that you can connect to it via Bluetooth and view the pictures. Set up was easy. I had to download the app for the camera with my phone and set up an account. Once I did that, it connected directly with the camera and I am able to change settings right through my phone. It is so convenient and easy to use. I've caught all sorts of wildlife running around that I never see - possums, groundhogs, and even deer. It really is a neat gadget to have.

WiFi unusable without account creation

I took a chance ordering this Model KJK230 WiFi trail camera from KJK. The listing was funky and the price was absurdly low. However, I received a fully featured 84 megapixel trail camera with audio recording. The camera supports photo recording from 2mp through 84mp and video recording from 720p to 4k with mono audio. Both modes have a so-called "smart" mode that seems stuck at 2MP for photos and 1080p for video. The camera automatically switches from day to night vision mode, enabled by 4 IR emitters. The camera theoretically has "120 degree" motion detection and it has three motion detection ports on the front, but internally there's only one sensor - there's not actually a sensor behind the two lower motion sensor ports which seem to be only for show. The camera shell is water resistant and can be tripod or strap mounted. It includes a 64GB SD card, a mounting bracket, a tree strap, manuals and 8 AA batteries (included). It can be externally powered by an optional 6V power supply.Internally, the camera is virtually identical to another camera I have, the Punvoe PV330. Even the circuit board is identical. The only difference is this cam has newer firmware and unlike the Punvoe, it has properly functioning auto white balance and reasonably good color. The camera records photos to the SD card in standard JPG format, and video in a weird AVI format that only the app and VLC seem to be able to play. Although it captures up to "84mp", I don't see an appreciable increase in actual resolution past 16mp or so. I do see a substantial amount of pincushioning, however.Still, as a standalone trail cam goes its not bad. The app, on the other hand, now forces you to create an account to use the WiFi feature. A few months ago this didn't used to be a requirement, but if you don't want to participate in their email harvesting scheme the WiFi feature is now effectively off-limits. Hint: If you can't bypass the requirement, don't call it "hint" or suggest it's to improve service. As the WiFi feature is effectively unusable I am unable to recommend this otherwise decent cam.
